| 3. Written by More Kaplan Garbage on January 10, 2012 from elmhurst, illinois, US I graduated from Kaplan in April of last year. I was required to sign a promissory note for $161.00 which I immediately paid. I did not want them to hold my degree and final transcript in lieu of the $161.00. I received my degree and final transcript in May from Kaplan. I had a zero balance on my account when I walked for graduation ceremony in chicago in August. Two weeks ago I received a call from Pinnacle Collections stating that I owe $361.00 and that they were collecting for Kaplan. They said that the lender requested $361.00 back. I asked the collection agency to provide proof so they sent a ledger of my account. Kaplan had charged me a $100.00 technology fee when I was not attending class I had already graduated. They adjusted the technology fee off Then I noticed on the ledger that they had a write off for collections in the amount of $361.00 it did not stay in collections thirty days and I had not received any coorespondence from Kaplan indicating that I owed. I called Kaplan back and talked to FA. Anyone that has dealt with Kaplan's FA knows they are USELESS! My situation is different but the fact remains someone made a mistake on their end at my expense. Kaplan should reimburse me for all the technical problems and nights when I attended class with no instructor. So now I have this extra payment along with my student loan to get this off my record. Needless to say I was told that my FA I would not have any out of pocket expenses because my FA would be packaged accordingly. I had made several payments to Kaplan while I attended because they could not get their records straight. As expensive as the classes are they should write it off and educate their represenatives. I called the number listed above but I have not received a call back. I would also like to participate in this class action. |
| 4. Written by Kaplan Student on January 8, 2012 from -, -, US I'm in a bad situation with Kaplan as well. I'm about to complete my Bachelors degree and have been told that I have exhausted all fincial aid. I was told a fake website to sign up for the Kaplan Choice loan. Plus, I was told to apply for outside loans and get two denials. I did this and no one contacted me after I sent the denials to the financial aid office. When I contacted them again they told me they had not recieved my denials and that I would have to reapply for outside loans. I'm hurt and almost in tears as I write this because I don't have any money to complete my degree. I feel like I have been mislead and each time I call I get a different person and they tell me something different from the last. I need someone to help me please. |
